Arizona Nightlights

Lake Havasu in February

I only spent one night at Lake Havasu. I'd been driving all day, I was tired and I felt like I was coming down with a cold. The first hotel I stopped at was full, and I had to go to another. I was really feeling down! But on the way, this light show came to lift my spirits and remind of what really matters!

The Prickley Pear Cactus

The Prickly Pear that grows prodigiously in Arizona desert - and in many urban yards - blooms in the vivid yellow you see here or in equally vivid red or orange. Its wide flat stalks are usually green but in times of drought, they can turn various shades of pink and purple. Its ears are scrapped of prickles and made into a delicious candied fruit.
